Miami Waterkeeper mission is to defend, protect, and preserve Biscayne bay in South Florida, ensuring swimmable, drinkable, and fishable water for all.
Biscayne Bay in South Florida, an important environmental feature of the region and home to a natural coral population and turquoise waters, is under serious threat from pollution and a rising sea level, one of the most serious consequences of the climate crisis. Miami Waterkeeper (MWK) mission is to defend, protect, and preserve the bay, ensuring swimmable, drinkable, and fishable water for all.
MWK reached out to Tectonica to help them rethink their digital strategy. They wanted to make their online presence more effective and impactful in order to bring more people into their movement, to engage with a wider, older volunteer base, and to better connect and communicate with their existing network. To help them, we have introduced journeys that are specific to the community outreach and education, science and research, as well as their advocacy work, outlining the unique approach of Miami Waterkeeper.
We created a website to address these specific needs, utilising a simple, elegant narrative coupled with captivating imagery that demonstrates the value of this unique coastal region. We made the membership programme an engaging, holistic feature across the website. In addition, we incorporated easy-to-use fundraising features, where supporters can directly donate or start their own personal fundraiser, to facilitate their goal to raise more funds.
The result is a website with a striking visual language that engages with the public and those committed to protecting the Miami Watershed, moving them to take action to help save their local environment, both on mobile devices and desktop.
